Maligano Jasper was first discovered just over 10 years ago in Indonesia, sometime around 2011 - 2012. It's named after a small village locality on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The area is small and secluded, and the land is not heavily mined compared to other areas around Asia. Due to these factors, the village does not have access to the heavy machinery required for mining and deeper extraction that's used in neighbouring lands. This makes it much more difficult to find and source, leading to a higher price point and scarce amount.
